Review: Angel Fever by L.A Weatherly (Book Tour)

Synopsis
As half-angel Willow strives to save the world from her parasitic otherworldly kin, romance and tension heat up to a climactic finale.

In the devastated remains of the world, millions of people live in "refugee" camps provided by the angels who have all but enslaved humanity. As this angelic stranglehold tightens, Willow and Alex are recruiting and training new Angel Killers while struggling to hold ground on the celestial battlefield. But Willow continues to have feelings for Seb, and her love and resolve are tested as a shattering revelation sends Alex on a separate journey. Now that the final battle versus the angels is about to begin-and the fate of the world hangs in the balance-each of them must face the consequences of their own choices. Will love endure? Will the human race survive?

My Review:

Angel Fever is a beautiful and suspenseful novel that will capture the attention and the hearts of all of it's readers. From the very first page, I was transported into this world of angels, creatures who are a lot less than heavenly. I completely devoured the novel, all the way to it's satisfying end.

Despite the long timeline (or, relatively long for a YA novel) that spans through the duration of the novel, my attention was not lost for a moment. Instead of dragging out the plot, having time pass allowed me to connect deeper with the story, actually feeling like I experienced the plot with the characters. In addition, it helped build the suspense within the novel. I think we can all relate to having that heavy feeling that something bad will happen weigh over us. Weatherly holds that feeling the entire time, looming in the background of every scene which kept me at the edge of my seat.

I can definitely consider myself an emotional reader, and Angel Fever was an emotional roller coaster. I found myself smiling at some parts and ready to tear up at others. I love when novels can affect me deeply on an emotional level. In fact, I think that an emotional connection to the words of someone else is one of the most beautiful things possible.

The characters in Angel Fever are wonderfully crafted. Willow is a great role model, strong and smart, while still being very realistic. She definitely has to make a lot of hard decisions, but most of her choices and actions were very understandable. Alex also was an excellent character. In the novel, it said that about half the girls training had a crush on him. I'm pretty sure almost all of the readers can feel the same way.

The way that angels are approached in this series was both unique and breathtaking. Every scene in which Willow described her angel had incredibly beautiful writing. Many angel series tend to show angels in a perfect light. I enjoyed seeing them as predators with a strong sense of beauty.

Angel Fever was absolutely stunning, and I thoroughly enjoyed the reading experience. I highly recommend it to all fans of the paranormal.
